This site will shortly be moved under the new ClinicalTemplates.org umbrella. We’ll keep the shorter URL here of clintemplate.org, so that the group URLs don’t get broken.
Membership of this site will be moved over, but you will get an email informing you when this is about to happen, and giving you the option of removing your details.
All this means is that there will be a single log-in for all sites that are part of the main project, as it is likely that people will be involved with more than one. Registration on this site will stay open for now, until registration on the main site is open.

Some news… I’m leaving Glasgow Caledonian University at the end of July 2008 to work freelance, mostly on projects in this area.
The University has agreed that I can ‘look after’ this site and the results of the feasibility study for NHS Scotland. This is very welcome and important to me- I promised everyone who submitted content for this site that I would ensure it would last indefinitely and not be removed once the feasibility study finished. I’m glad to be able to keep that promise.
It’s very likely that this site, as it is, will be ‘mothballed’ so that it is still available, but a new site will be developed in a few months, which will probably be an umbrella for a number of separate projects in this area.
So keep watching- subscribe to the news feed, or I’ll email all those who’ve registered here when the changes take place.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this site.

I attended a meeting of the Technical Advisory Group for the International Classification for Nursing Practice in Geneva this morning, to give a short presentation on the Clinical Templates project.
There are some very interesting parallels between the processes we’ve used and the development of ICNP Catalogues.
The Scottish Community Nursing Census is planning to use ICNP as its underlying coding system.

Medinfo went very well, and I met some very interesting people working in this area.
Most interesting was a workshop that took place after Medinfo, and comprising around 16 people mainly from the ISO Standards Groups that were meeting the following week. Organised by William Goossen, the theme was Clinical Information Modelling and I gave a presentation on this project to represent the clinical practice perspective.
The day went well I think, and there were some very encouraging signs of collaboration between the HL7 and CEN/OpenEHR people there- there was a feeling that harmonisation was do-able, maybe helped by the sun coming out after a week of rain.
I need to tidy up the presentation a bit, then I’ll make it available here.

Earlier this week I had a meeting with Dr Ann Wales, Programme Director for Knowledge Management, NHS Education for Scotland. Anne and her team are working on Managed Knowledge Networks as part of the NHS Scotland E-Library.
We discussed adding metadata to the templates here which would allow them to be indexed in the E-Library. This means that when people search on the E-Library, the clinical templates here can appear in the results if they match the query. They can then click on the link and view or download the template here.
I look forward to working with the team in NES as we plan to make this happen over the next few months.
